Haystaq’s Commitment to Redistricting

For over 20 years, Haystaq has provided outstanding non-partisan redistricting services to states, cities, and municipalities across the country. We know that districts, precincts, and wards play a crucial role in determining various aspects of our lives, from our representatives, schools, neighborhoods, and even where we get our water. Unfortunately, in our hyper-polarized political climate, this process has often fallen victim to partisan and racial gerrymandering, undermining the power of communities.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court made a landmark decision to uphold a crucial provision of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that prohibits racial gerrymandering. In the case of Allen V. Milligan, the Republican-led state legislature in Alabama was found to have denied African American voters the ability to elect a second representative of their choice. This decision carries significant implications for similar cases across the country, signaling a stronger stance against racial gerrymandering in the redistricting process. This week SCOTUS will rule on Moore v Harper, another case that will have major implications on redistricting commissions across the country.

While the redistricting process has concluded for many states, it is important to note that it is an ongoing effort in several others. It is in these states that the battle for fair representation and community empowerment continues. At Haystaq, we remain committed to assisting these states and jurisdictions in their redistricting endeavors, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every vote is valued.

As the conversation around redistricting unfolds, we emphasize the need for transparency and equity.

Haystaq continues to employ cutting-edge technology, robust data analysis, and expert insights to help decision-makers create districts that accurately reflect the will of the people. Our goal is to continue to foster fair representation, safeguard voting rights, and combat gerrymandering in all its forms.
